This pandemic brings a lot of waste because of shipping containers decaying due to loss of serviceability & use. Recycling containers in architecture is becoming increasingly valued to enable the creation of sustainable projects. With their standardized sizes, it becomes possible to create a modular structure that allows infinite intervention possibilities.

In this project, a recycled 10ft shipping container sits on a small rectangular lot furnished with fractured concrete seating areas/plant boxes. This shipping container coffee shop brings modularity in construction and ease of transport in several places.

For this lot, we tried to create a quality seating spot by creating a lush pocket garden setting. The green spaces are introduced to smoothen the rough impression created by the exposed concrete textures.

A turf block concrete paver was used as ground cover. Turf blocks are considered porous pavers because of their open cells that allow grass to grow through them. These pavers also create a cooler atmosphere & drain rainwater naturally.
